A Heathrow pilot skilfully aborted landing during Storm Isha, facing high winds in a video viewed widely on social media.
Passenger Gareth Dean later shared a clip of the incident, praising the pilot’s composed actions.
“All very undramatic onboard, well done to the pilot,” Dean wrote.
Over at Gatwick Airport, applause erupted as a pilot successfully landed a diverted plane in stormy weather, captured in a clip by Matthew Connell.
“My flight from Ibiza to London City to diverted to Gatwick cause of Storm Isha,” Connell wrote on X.
“I’ve had my fair share of flights but this was one of the most unstable approaches I’ve expected, fun but violent.”

Storm Isha caused disruptions, with closed roads, blocked rail lines, and diverted flights.
