Flights were delayed at Tulsa International Airport because of a technical problem at Delta Airlines. Monday afternoon on social media, Delta announced they’ve cancelled over 427 flights so far – out of almost 6,000 scheduled.
Dozens of flights from TIA were delayed after a computer outage in Atlanta. The company said a power outage took place around 2:30 a.m. Eastern Time, impacting Delta computer systems and operations worldwide.
Delta Air Lines tweeted that its computer systems were down “everywhere” and that it had delayed flights scheduled to take off Monday morning as a result.
Steven Jackson and Sheryl Black’s flight was delayed for the second time in two days.
“They were having maintenance issues, so they put us in a hotel overnight, and we had a flight for 7:05 yesterday morning,” Jackson said.
“It’s more than frustrating cause we have jobs, we have kids at home waiting on us,” Black said.
As of 7:40 a.m. ET, Delta had only 25 flights airborne. At this same time last week, Delta had 290 flights in the air.
The company warns that although some flights are being allowed to take off, there will still likely be delays and cancellations. They advise passengers to check flight statuses online before leaving for the airport.
“Our teams are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible,” a company representative said.
Clarence Joseph of Baltimore said his connection flight to Detroit was delayed, but he said it’s all part of flying.
“Our airport right down the street experiences issues from time to time, so yeah, it’s kind of a common thing for us here,” he said.
Other flyers said they’ll be looking for a new carrier next time.
“I won’t fly Delta again,” Sheryl Black said. “I can tell you that for sure.”
