A special delegation representing President Bola Tinubu and officials of the Ethiopian Airlines have met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to discuss trade relations affecting the operations of the airline in the country.
The president’s delegation was led by the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar.
The meeting became imperative following a number of issues raised by the management of Ethiopian Airlines on their operations in Nigeria, which if not addressed had the capacity to affect its operations and relations with the country.
Addressing state house reporters after the meeting, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Sola Enikan-Olaiye, said there were many fundamental issues affecting the relationship between Ethiopian Airlines and the Nigerian government.

Enikan-Olaiye said, “We will be reporting back to Mr President honestly and dutifully and then he will consider the report and give appropriate instructions to our aviation authorities, particularly the Minister of Aviation; that is the aim of the meeting.
“The issues are issues that we need to address so as to smoothen relations and meet the aspirations of the Nigerian people, as well as their own part, and again to advance the government’s agenda in the aviation sector.”
On his part, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew, said the meeting was a very productive one, adding that, “We are very happy with the outcome of the discussion and we will continue serving the Nigerian public through Ethiopian Airlines flights.”
