A flydubai Boeing 737-8 MAX operating from Dubai to Doha, Qatar made a precautionary return to Dubai on 7 April 2024.
The aircraft experienced an undercarriage retraction issue after takeoff, prompting a return to Dubai DXP.
flydubai FZ17 Dubai-Doha
Operating as flight FZ17, the flydubai Boeing 737-8 MAX had made a departure from Dubai runway 30L, bound for Doha Qatar.
During the subsequent climb out flight crew were unable to fully retract the aircraft’s landing gear. A decision was made to terminate the climb and conduct a precautionary return to Dubai.
The aircraft subsequently made a return landing on runway 30L without further incident.
Flight Details
Flight data for the service shows that flydubai flight FZ17 made an on-time departure from DXB at 1554 local time. Upon experiencing a gear retraction issue, the operating crew discontinued the climb at 9,000 feet.
The flight then initiated an immediate return to Dubai DXB, where it landed approximately 25 minutes after initial departure.
Boeing 737-8 MAX A6-FKH
The aircraft conducting the FZ17 rotation to Doha was a Boeing 737-8 MAX, registered A6-FKH.
This is a one-year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the Dubai-based carrier flydubai. It has been in service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in January 2023.
