flydubai is setting a powerful precedent in the Middle East’s aviation sector with an ambitious commitment to increase the number of Emirati women joining its workforce by 30 percent by 2025. This strategic initiative highlights the airline’s unwavering dedication to Emiratisation, fostering national talent, and championing diversity within the dynamic travel industry. As a pivotal contributor to the UAE’s economic landscape, flydubai’s proactive stance is not only enhancing its internal capabilities but also significantly bolstering the nation’s broader vision for sustainable development and national empowerment.

The airline currently demonstrates strong national representation, with Emiratis constituting 22 percent of its total employee base. Within this significant national segment, Emirati women currently make up 16 percent, providing a robust foundation for the planned expansion. flydubai’s forward-looking target for 2025 is specifically aimed at accelerating the integration of female Emirati talent into a diverse range of critical roles, spanning from the cockpit and engineering departments to essential customer service and corporate functions. This commitment directly aligns with the UAE’s strategic national agenda to empower women and facilitate their active participation in high-growth, high-value sectors.

To ensure the successful realization of this bold objective, flydubai has meticulously developed and implemented a comprehensive framework of talent development programs. The pioneering Nujoom program, specifically designed for female Emirati cadets, stands as a cornerstone for nurturing the next generation of aviation professionals. Further complementing these efforts are established initiatives such as the Cadet Pilot Program and the Future Leaders Program, both offering structured career pathways and advanced skill development. Additionally, flydubai proactively supports numerous scholarships, accessible both domestically and internationally, in vital fields including engineering, aviation management, and Information Technology, thereby ensuring a consistent pipeline of highly qualified Emirati talent.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, underscores the strategic importance of cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment, acknowledging that a varied workforce is paramount for driving innovation and achieving sustained success in an increasingly competitive global industry. These progressive initiatives not only create invaluable career opportunities for Emirati women but also significantly enhance flydubai’s operational excellence and solidify its position as a leading and responsible employer in the region. For the wider travel industry, flydubai’s proactive and integrated approach signals a positive and influential trend towards greater gender balance and the effective integration of local talent, thereby setting a formidable benchmark for other airlines and aviation-related enterprises across the GCC and beyond.
