FlySafair is celebrating by selling 50,000 seats on selected domestic flights for R10 a pop.
Like fine wine, FlySafair gets more expensive with age
No, we haven’t forgotten any zeros in there. In fact, it’s 10% more expensive than the airline’s last mega-sale in 2023, which saw tickets flying about for only R9 each. It’s all part of the majorly successful birthday gimmick that sees roughly a million South Africans visiting the airline’s website annually. The sale kicks off tomorrow, 8 May, at 9AM SAST. We’d start practising that refresh finger now if you’re serious about competing for a ticket.
Like the airline’s previous birthday sales, FlySafair is reiterating that getting onto the site and successfully purchasing one of the R10 tickets is all about your luck. And, as expected, the sale won’t be taking place on the airline’s app, but rather exclusively on its website. Customers looking to pick up a regular ticket have been warned to use the app to avoid any “sale frenzy” or, in our case… crashing websites.

“This will be up to the luck of the draw, as the waiting room will randomly let only a few customers onto the site each minute. A R10 fare finder will be available in the waiting room to assist customers in tracking down R10 tickets. Once on the website, customers will have a 10-minute session to book their flights,” FlySafair wrote in a press release.
FlySafair’s tips for making the most out of tomorrow’s sales are worth adhering to. You’ll definitely want to create a profile ahead of the 9AM sale launch if you don’t have one, and deciding on your flight’s date and time ahead of the sale is just good practice, no matter the occasion.
