IAG Cargo, in collaboration with British Airways, recently completed a specialized logistics mission, transporting a collection of pre-Hispanic artefacts from Mexico City to Madrid. This operation was undertaken to facilitate a new exhibition at the Museo Arqueológico Nacional (National Archaeological Museum of Spain).
The valuable artefacts were carefully loaded onto a British Airways passenger flight departing from Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and arriving at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). This intricate transport was essential for the upcoming exhibition titled "The Mayas: The mystery of the lost cities," organized by the Museo Nacional de Antropología (National Museum of Anthropology of Mexico) for display in Spain.
To ensure the safety and integrity of the sensitive cargo, IAG Cargo utilized its specialist teams and its "Prioritise" product. This premium service is specifically designed for time-critical, high-value, and delicate shipments, offering enhanced security, temperature control, and real-time tracking capabilities. The process involved meticulous handling by specially trained staff, as well as the use of temperature-controlled storage facilities and cargo vehicles to maintain optimal environmental conditions for the ancient objects throughout their journey.
The successful execution of this complex transportation task required close coordination and collaboration among IAG Cargo, British Airways, the Museo Nacional de Antropología of Mexico, the Museo Arqueológico Nacional of Spain, and customs authorities from both countries. This joint effort underscores the company’s capability in handling culturally significant and highly sensitive consignments across international borders.
