International Airlines Group (IAG) has announced plans to install Starlink Wi-Fi connectivity across its various airline brands through a multi-airline agreement. This initiative aims to equip aircraft with high-speed, low-latency broadband internet, significantly enhancing the passenger experience on both short-haul and long-haul flights. The new connectivity is expected to provide streaming-level performance for customers.
The rollout will begin with initial testing this autumn. Following a successful testing phase, the installation of Starlink connectivity across the broader IAG group is anticipated to commence next year, making the service available to passengers soon thereafter. The agreement encompasses all airlines within the IAG portfolio, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, and LEVEL, ensuring comprehensive coverage across global routes.
This move is part of IAG’s broader strategy to diversify and improve its in-flight connectivity offerings. The group currently operates with existing solutions such as Viasat’s Ku-band and Ka-band satellite services, as well as the European Aviation Network (EAN), on some of its aircraft. The introduction of Starlink connectivity will complement these existing systems, allowing IAG to gain deeper insight into passenger usage patterns and demand for various connectivity options across its diverse fleet and flight network.
