Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced the addition of more flights to Kisumu to manage increased passenger demand. This surge in demand is attributed to the upcoming burial of Mama Sarah Obama, scheduled for October 19th. Mama Sarah Obama is identified as the step-grandmother of former US President Barack Obama and the mother of Siaya Senator James Orengo. The event is anticipated to attract a significant number of high-profile attendees.
The additional flights are scheduled between October 16th and October 18th. Kenya Airways, which typically operates seven daily flights to Kisumu, will increase its operations to 11 flights daily on October 16th. On October 18th, the airline plans to operate 10 flights daily to the lakeside city. These temporary flight additions are aimed at accommodating the expected influx of travelers heading to Kisumu for the burial.
