kenya airways kisumu: The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) now says flight operations at Kisumu International Airport are set to resume.
The runway was cleared after a Kenya Airways plane was involved in a bird hit.
“The safe operating distance on the runway has now been declared, and a notice will be published by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to all airmen (NOTAMs) to facilitate the resumption of normal operations at the airport,” the authority said.
KAA said the safety of all passengers and airport users is its top priority.

According to Kenya Airways, while all passengers were evacuated safely, the aircraft could not fully exit the runway due to the bird strike.
The KQ said the incident took place around 6.36 am on Thursday.
A statement sent Thursday evening by the Office of Corporate Communications said the incident resulted in the plane being temporarily stuck on the runway.
“The aircraft landed safely at Kisumu, however, it was not able to fully exit the runway as the bird strike affected the aircraft’s operating components,” the statement said.
“All passengers and crew on board are safe,” the statement said.
The airline said they are working with the relevant authorities to remove the aircraft and resume normal operations.
KQ further said that the passengers of the affected flights will be provided with updated travel information and assistance as needed.
