What’s happening?
In the latest schedule filing, Korean Air confirmed that Hong Kong would again see the A380, replacing the B787-9 planned as of last week. The A380 will fly from July 2nd and operate 3x weekly. While Korean Air used it on the route on a handful of times in 2017/2018, it was last deployed on a daily basis between June 2011 and May 2014.
The last departure from South Korea will be October 29th, the last day of the Northern Hemisphere summer season. It is unclear if winter flights will be added later. The schedule is as follows, with all times local:
- Seoul Incheon to Hong Kong: KE607, 19:45-22:30 (block time of 3h 45m), Tuesdays, Saturdays, Sundays
- Hong Kong to Seoul Incheon: KE608, 00:45-05:25 (3h 40m), Mondays, Wednesdays, Sundays
In addition to the 3x weekly flights above, Korean Air has another 1x weekly Hong Kong flight this summer. Operating on Thursdays out and Fridays back, it is by the B777-300ER.
