Qatar Airways Group is well positioned to support the recovery of aviation, and the world economy at large, said H E Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, Qatar Airways Group in Sustainability Report for FY 2019-21 released yesterday. The airline takes its responsibilities to care for the environment seriously and sustainability is at the forefront of business planning across the group.
“I am pleased to present this report as assurance that all necessary measures have been taken to operate responsibly and efficiently; affirming that Qatar Airways Group is well positioned to support the recovery of aviation, and the world economy at large,” said Al Baker in the report.
The latest report details how the airline group was able to quickly respond to the needs of its customers, and its relief efforts in providing repatriation to people stranded and transport of essential medical and other supplies, as well as the airline’s strategy to recover and build resilience to ensure long-term business sustainability.
“The unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have presented extraordinary challenges to the Qatar Airways Group. In the face of this adversity, we remained exemplary in our leadership and perseverance in the safe movement of people and goods,” said Al Baker.
“During the peak of COVID-19, we were independently affirmed as the largest operating airline worldwide whilst investing in the most advanced hygiene measures. These efforts on safety and hygiene earned us prestigious accolades such as the Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating for Qatar Airways; and Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating for Hamad International Airport,” he said.
Qatar Airways was the only global airline operating at the height of the pandemic successfully maintaining the network at a minimum of 34 destinations with continuous services to five continents.
