A late Friday afternoon United Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Newark was diverted right before landing when the pilot reported dangerous high winds and landed safely in Stewart International Airport at 6:45 p.m., WABC reported.
The 11-hour Flight 85 had over 300 passengers and crew members aboard when pilots reported “wind shear,” which is described as a change in wind direction, and they called a “go-around” when they were merely 750 feet off the ground.
The flight landed safely and was met by paramedics, who examined some 30 passengers who were sickened during the harrowing flight.
New Windsor EMS took seven passengers to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall with minor injuries.
