For the first time, United Airlines has deployed its Boeing 737 MAX 8 on flights between its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County, California. It comes as the airline has long operated the route with 737 Next Generation (NG) variants.
With the update, United now goes head-to-head with American Airlines, its sole competitor that also deploys the MAX 8 on the route. American, however, has operated the aircraft between the two cities since 2022.
