An engine of a United Airlines flight caught fire at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport just before its departure on Monday, following which the takeoff was aborted. The incident was caught on camera, in which smoke can be seen gushing out from one of the wings.
United Airlines Flight 2091, slated for departure to Seattle around 2 pm, faced a critical situation when its engine ignited on the taxiway. Following this incident, Airbus 320 was towed back to a gate for the evacuation of 148 passengers and five crew members, both the Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines stated in separate statements.
A passenger inside the plane shot a video clip, in which a thick layer of smoke can be witnessed coming out from one of the aircraft’s wings.
While speaking with Storyful, Ivan Paloalto, the passenger who took the video, stated that he heard a blast as the plane was nearing takeoff, The New York Post reported.
