Japanese airlines have announced their flight schedules for the summer schedule period of 2024, running from March 31 to October 26. These announcements detail various changes, including new routes, increased frequencies, resumed services, and adjustments to both domestic and international operations to cater to anticipated travel demand.
### Major Japanese Carriers Enhance Networks
All Nippon Airways (ANA) released its summer schedule on January 23, 2024, outlining plans for 18 domestic routes with increased frequencies or larger aircraft, mainly connecting to Haneda Airport. Internationally, ANA will introduce new Haneda-Shenyang (NH927/928) and Haneda-Qingdao (NH929/930) flights. The Haneda-Dalian route will see an increase from 5 to 7 flights per week, and Haneda-Shanghai (Pudong) services will rise from 14 to 21 flights per week. ANA also plans to resume daily Haneda-Honolulu (NH186/185) flights starting June 1. Conversely, the Narita-Brussels (NH231/232) and Narita-New York (NH104/103) routes are scheduled for discontinuation as of March 30. Vancouver service (NH116/115) will increase from 5 to 7 times per week.
The JAL Group announced its summer schedule on January 17, 2024, aiming for a target of 3,000 international flights per week in fiscal year 2023. Japan Airlines (JAL) will operate 46 international routes and 67 domestic routes. Key international services include daily Haneda-Dallas Fort Worth (JL12/11), Haneda-New York (JL006/005), Haneda-London (JL043/044), Haneda-Paris (JL045/046), and Haneda-Frankfurt (JL041/040) flights. Haneda-Helsinki (JL047/048) will operate 5 times per week, and Haneda-Dubai (JL079/071) will become a daily service from May 16. JAL will also resume Haneda-Dalian service and introduce a new Narita-Guangzhou (JL805/806) route, in addition to daily Narita-Honolulu (JL782/781) flights. Domestically, JAL will introduce new Airbus A350-900 aircraft and increase frequencies on high-demand routes such as Haneda-Sapporo (New Chitose), Haneda-Okinawa, Haneda-Fukuoka, and Itami-Sapporo.
### Low-Cost and Regional Airlines Adjust Operations
Peach Aviation is set to introduce a new Kansai-Kaohsiung route with 7 flights per week. The low-cost carrier will also increase domestic frequencies, including Kansai-Sapporo (New Chitose) to up to 7 flights per day and Narita-Sapporo (New Chitose) to up to 4 flights per day. Other routes like Kansai-Sendai, Kansai-Ishigaki, Narita-Sendai, and Narita-Okinawa will also see increased services. International flights from Kansai to Incheon, Taipei (Taoyuan), and Hong Kong, as well as Narita to Taipei (Taoyuan), will also experience increased frequencies.
ZIPAIR Tokyo’s summer schedule includes daily Narita-Los Angeles, Narita-San Francisco, Narita-Seoul (Incheon), and Narita-Bangkok flights. The Narita-Vancouver route will operate 5 times per week, and Narita-Singapore will see up to 4 flights per week. Spring Japan will operate 14 flights per week on the Narita-Sapporo (New Chitose) route and 7 flights per week on the Narita-Hiroshima route, alongside international services from Narita to Harbin and Shanghai (Pudong).
Hawaiian Airlines will maintain daily Haneda-Honolulu flights, in addition to 5 flights per week each for Narita-Honolulu and Kansai-Honolulu services. Other regional carriers and airlines operating within Japan have also confirmed their schedules: Skymark Airlines will operate 12 routes, StarFlyer 3 routes, Air Do 10 routes, Solaseed Air 14 routes, Fuji Dream Airlines 39 routes, Oriental Air Bridge 6 routes, and Amakusa Airlines 1 route. Japan Transocean Air (JTA) will operate 10 routes, Japan Air Commuter (JAC) 19 routes, and Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) 12 routes.
