Vietjet signs billion-dollar deals for 100 Airbus aircraft, 92 Rolls-Royce engines
Vietnamese low-cost carrier Vietjet has announced significant expansion plans through substantial aircraft and engine deals. The airline has finalized agreements for 100 Airbus aircraft and 92 Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines.
The agreement for 100 Airbus aircraft is valued at US$12.5 billion, marking a major step in Vietjet’s fleet development. This order includes A330neo aircraft, a model known for its fuel efficiency and longer range. The first delivery of these new A330neo aircraft is anticipated in late 2025.
In conjunction with the aircraft order, Vietjet has also secured a deal for 92 Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines. These engines will power the A330neo aircraft. The contract includes a 12-year TotalCare service agreement, which provides comprehensive engine maintenance and operational support.
These strategic investments are expected to support Vietjet’s growth ambitions, enabling the airline to expand its network and cater to increasing passenger demand. The airline aims to leverage these new, modern aircraft and reliable engine technology to enhance its operational capabilities and customer experience.
