In a move to expand its regional network, Vietnam’s leading low-cost carrier, VietJet, plans to become the first Vietnamese airline to operate Chinese COMAC ARJ21-700 regional aircraft, also known as the C909, on domestic routes. These flights are scheduled to begin in mid-April 2025. Importantly, VietJet’s move will fill the gap created by Bamboo Airways’ withdrawal from service to Con Dao Island—an important destination for both tourism and administration.
