A few passengers of Vistara flight UK 202 from Dubai landed without completing the immigration process on Sunday and were taken to the domestic arrivals instead of international arrivals at Mumbai airport. This was an apparent security violation as international passengers arriving at Indian airports are compulsorily required to undergo an immigration process. The airline stated that it was a mistake and that operating procedures will be tightened to prevent such incidents in the future.
According to a statement issued by a Vistara spokesperson, “Few of our customers, arriving from Dubai to Mumbai on Vistara flight UK 202 on 4 February, were erroneously taken to domestic arrivals instead of international arrivals.” The airline added that its teams worked with the relevant authorities to ensure that these passengers were taken to the designated area to complete their arrival formalities and conclude their journey.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has not commented on the incident yet. Earlier, a post on social media platform X alleged a security breach and a “major goof up” by Vistara Airlines. It claimed that all passengers arriving from Dubai on that flight were dropped off by bus at the domestic terminal gate bypassing all immigration/customs and directly at the luggage belt.
