Vistara, which took flight for the first time in 2015 and is now almost all set to be merged into Air India, ordered 56 aircraft in 2018. These were sewed up mostly with aircraft to be delivered via the lease route. The order included 50 A320/A321neo aircraft and six Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Today, Vistara took delivery of the last of its aircraft.
Vistara started the induction of its 787-9 aircraft in 2020. Today, Vistara took delivery of its last Boeing 787-9 aircraft (one of the six they ordered). Vistara also took a 787-9 on lease with a different configuration, which operates exclusively on the Delhi – Frankfurt – Delhi route. The last Boeing 787-9, registered VT-TSN, flew its delivery flight from Paine Field Airport (PAE) and arrived in Bengaluru on March 28, 2024, in the evening.
On this occasion, Vistara’s CEO said,
We recently took delivery of our last Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and that’s also the 70th aircraft in our fleet. This marks the culmination of the order that we had placed in 2018 for 56 aircraft across Airbus and Boeing, and this was to set out on a path of being a very customer-oriented airline with numerous firsts and a very fuel efficient one with the newest generation of technology. As we expanded, took these aircraft, and grew our network, our customers have always been at the heart of everything we did.
Today, Vistara launched flights between Mumbai and Paris, replacing Mumbai and London Heathrow operations with a Boeing 787-9. Vistara will also upgrade their Delhi – Bali Denpasar flight from an A321neo to a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on March 31, 2024.
Vistara has completed the delivery of its 70th aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 registered VT-TSN, which has flown to India already. The airline now won’t add any more aircraft to its fleet because it will merge with Air India at some point in time.
