What Were They Thinking: Vistara’s ’20th Best Rank’ Celebration Sparks Laughter On The Internet

A post on X (previously Twitter) making a lighthearted fun at Vistara Airlines has had social media users laughing.

User Ritesh Banglani uploaded a photo of a pamphlet he spotted on his Vistara flight declaring the airline’s ranking as the 20th best in the world for in-flight entertainment.

“I may fall on hard times, but I hope things never get so bad that I have to brag about being 20th best in anything,” he wrote, sharing a photo of the booklet.

How did people on the internet react?

Banglani shared the photo on Thursday, and it has since received over 64,000 views and 1,500 likes on the microblogging platform. His amusing post has also elicited numerous fascinating responses. 

While some agreed with the X user, others admired Vistara’s achievement. “At least they are honest. “There is always a way to slice data so that you come out on top,” one user said.

“If I were the 20th best at something, like IITJEE, I wouldn’t stop bragging about it. Another person stated that the bigger the vista, the more crucial 20th best becomes.

“Sir, the 20th best individuals in their fields are definitely winning. You are correct that being the 20th best corporation is not wonderful in most cases, except your job is one in which being the 20th best fund is likely beneficial,” observed a third user. 

When did Vistara win this accolade? 

Notably, in 2023, Vistara became the only Indian airline to rank among the world’s top 20 for in-flight entertainment. Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong received first place in that category, followed by Emirates and Qatar Airways. 

Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines that commenced operations in 2015, now operates a fleet of 67 aircraft, the majority of which are single-aisle Airbus A320s and five Boeing 787s.
