Low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air both reported significant increases in passenger numbers for October. The figures indicate continued strong demand for budget air travel across Europe.
Ryanair carried 17.1 million passengers during the month, representing a 7% rise compared to the same period last year. The airline maintained a load factor of 94%, which was unchanged from October 2022. On a rolling annual basis, Ryanair transported 179.8 million passengers by the end of October, marking a 14% increase.
Wizz Air also saw substantial growth, carrying 5.4 million passengers in October, a 23.3% year-on-year increase. The carrier’s load factor improved, rising by 3.6 percentage points to 92.5%. This growth was supported by an 18.5% year-on-year increase in capacity. Over the last 12 months, Wizz Air has served 60.1 million passengers, a rise of 31.7%. The airline also noted the launch of new routes from Luton and Gatwick to destinations in Egypt, as well as a new service from Luton to Prague.
