Ultra-low cost carrier Wizz Air has hit the milestone of 70 million passengers at London Luton (LTN/EGGW) airport with the 70 millionth passenger arriving into Luton from Tirana.
Wizz Air is the largest operator at Luton with an 11 aircraft base (including Wizz Air UK) and operates 50 return flights per day at the Bedfordshire airport where it operates to 60 destinations in 28 countries.
Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Wizz Air at London Luton Airport and the latest key milestone in a partnership that has continued to flourish since their first flight from Katowice in Poland almost 20 years ago.
“Since then, London Luton Airport and Wizz have worked closely to achieve impressive, sustained growth in passenger numbers and an ever-greater choice in destinations, as well as collaborating on new solutions that support the airport’s commitment to sustainable aviation.
“We look forward to another busy year as we continue to focus on delivering a simple and friendly passenger experience and the next big milestone in our partnership.”
Wizz Air is set to launch new route to Salzburg this month as well as announcing special flights to Germany in the summer for Euro 2024.

Wizz Air also plans for London Luton to be an all A321neo base by 2025.
