Wizz Air is set to significantly expand its operations in Montenegro by establishing a new base at Podgorica, the country’s capital. This strategic move, effective March 2026, will introduce two new routes and deploy an additional aircraft to strengthen the airline’s presence in the region.
The new base in Podgorica will feature one Airbus A320 aircraft, representing an investment of over $100 million. This expansion is projected to create approximately 30 new direct jobs for pilots and cabin crew, in addition to over 100 indirect jobs within related sectors. The establishment of the base will also facilitate increased flight frequencies on existing routes from Podgorica.
Starting in March 2026, Wizz Air will launch new flights from Podgorica to Rome Fiumicino and Budapest. These additions will bring Wizz Air’s total network from Podgorica to eight routes. The existing destinations served from Podgorica include Vienna, Dortmund, Memmingen, Basel/Mulhouse, Katowice, and London Luton. The airline anticipates a total seat capacity of over 450,000 from Podgorica, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing connectivity and offering affordable travel options in Montenegro.
