Lufthansa’s new short-haul subsidiary City Airlines has taken delivery of its first new Airbus A320neo aircraft ahead of planned network expansion.
The nascent airline, which commenced operations last June, operates feeder flights for Lufthansa from its main hubs at Munich and Frankfurt. The new 180-seat A320neo will enter service in May and brings the carrier’s growing fleet to eight aircraft.
In a statement, the Lufthansa Group said the airline is making “an important contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of the short-haul network… and supporting the planned growth on long-haul routes”.
