A Wizz Air advert that claimed the carrier is “one of the greenest choices in air travel” has been banned after the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled it to be “misleading”.
The advertising watchdog on Wednesday (27 November) said the paid-for Google advert, seen on 9 June 2024, “had not made clear the basis of the claim, or provided verifying information”.
The authority said consumers would understand the claim “one of the greenest choices in air travel” as meaning that Wizz Air’s environmental impact was among the lowest of all the airlines operating flights to and from the UK.
