Amadeus, the Spain-based operator of the world’s largest global distribution system, is poised to infuse a record level of funding into research and development (R&D) this year. By primarily servicing travel agents, airlines, hotels and analogous companies with booking information and software, Amadeus anticipates the future of its industry. The firm revealed a 20.2% increase in R&D spending for 1H2023 compared to the same period in 2022, an expenditure that exceeded $1.1 billion (€988.4m) for all of 2022. Amadeus’s R&D efforts mainly target the implementation of its state-of-the-art solutions.
