SpiceJet, a major Indian airline, has signed Amadeus, a leading travel technology company, as their Global Distribution System (GDS) partner. Previously, SpiceJet used their own booking system run through Navitaire’s New Skies’ Passenger Service System (PSS). Instead of solely using PSS, which makes inventory available through the airline’s website, SpiceJet will now utilise the GDS system. The GDS is a platform utilized by travel agents to access real-time inventory of hotels and airlines, providing information such as seats availability and current fares. With this new partnership, travel agents will be able to book SpiceJet flights easier and faster by servicing inventory in real-time.
