On a temperate November afternoon, I took an Uber from my house into Boston. Twenty years earlier, when I was a MFA candidate at Emerson College, I lived in Beantown. In the intervening years, I have left the city behind, moving first to New York, then to Long Island, and, most recently, to a suburb north of the city. These days, it’s rare that I get the opportunity to revisit my old haunts, so when an opportunity presented itself to spend a weekend in the city with my closest friend, I jumped.
