The Hilton Hotel near the Oakland Airport in California announced its closure on August 28 after being in operation for over 50 years. This has left many patrons of the hotel disheartened. The reason for the closure hasn’t been provided, however, many other businesses closing down in the area have attributed it to crime. The closure was announced by Park Hotels and Resorts, who mentioned the ongoing impact of unfavorable economic trends in the hospitality industry following the pandemic. Moves are reportedly underway for the Port, the owner, to identify the best use for the site.
