SHELBYVILLE — Before a large, anxious crowd, the Triple S Board of Adjustments and Appeals unanimously gave thumbs down to a controversial request for a conditional-use permit to make a house at 605 Brown Avenue a non-owner-occupied short-term rental.
Meanwhile, the board at its Feb. 27 meeting at the Stratton Center also unanimously approved such a permit for a house at 209 Beechwood Avenue.
The flurry of activity regarding short-term rentals in the city’s historic neighborhoods came as Shelbyville’s City Council is considering an ordinance to place more regulations on the often-called Airbnbs, including a spacing requirement to curb clusters of the short-term rentals in neighborhoods.
