Airbnb updated its policy on security cameras this week and now bans the use of all indoor security cameras in its listings worldwide.
The update said indoor security cameras are now prohibited in listings globally on Airbnb and placed more comprehensive rules on the use of outdoor cameras and other devices.
Airbnb said the move comes “as part of efforts to simplify our policy on security cameras and other devices and to continue to prioritize the privacy of our community.”
Many individuals staying at vacation rentals have voiced concern over the fear of being secretly recorded or videotaped during their stay.
