BENNINGTON, Neb. (WOWT) – Legos scattered around the basement but Courtney Halvorsen worried about a bigger mess in Florida if they took their booked family vacation.
“I can’t imagine flying in with four little boys not knowing what was going to happen if we were going to have flooding and food,” Courtney said.
Safety outweighed excitement even though Courtney’s four boys prepped for Disney World with Mickey Mouse letter jackets.
“Our Disney World day we were all going to wear matching jackets,” Courtney said.
The hurricanes canceled their trip. And not just for the Halvorsens. A total of 18 family members would be staying at a large AirBnB in Kissimmee, Florida, with a prepaid cost of more than $1,500 including pool service fees.
“We were supposed to arrive there Monday afternoon but it was a Category 5 and mass hysteria going on.”
