Airbnb has witnessed a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in bookings by first-time customers in India signalling a preference for experiential travel, a senior company executive said on Thursday.
The vacation home rental company entered India in 2016, and now counts it as among its fastest growing emerging markets. While it is rolling out new features to widen its customer base, the young, millennials and Gen Z customers are driving growth for the company in India.
“These younger travelers are prioritising unique, authentic experiences, such as staying in locally hosted homes or engaging in local activities, which aligns with Airbnb’s offerings,” said Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, company’s General Manager for India, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
He shared the comments at the launch of Airbnb’s entrepreneurship academy in Goa that will train budding hosts to enhance guest experience and differentiate their offerings. So far, the academy in Goa has trained 25 homestay…
