UK travellers are continuing to orient their travel choices around food, and this Easter is no different. New research from Airbnb shows Brits are swapping Spanish tapas for countryside escapes with friends and families, where proximity to hearty pub grub and the warm welcome of a rural local are top of the menu.
Over the past year, holidays centred around culinary experiences (otherwise known as “gastro-cations”) dominated as a travel trend, and Airbnb’s study shows this is only continuing to rise. Well over a third (42%) of the British public say proximity to memorable eating and drinking experiences on holiday remains one of the biggest influences on where they go, with nearly one in three (29%) noting that this motivation is even more important to them this year compared to last.
