Lady found dead after ‘falling’ from 10th floor of Kasarani Airbnb apartment

• The unidentified woman was in the company of a man when she booked herself into a short-term accommodation space in Thome, Kasarani on Friday
• Prior to getting into the room, the duo had revelled at an entertainment joint in Mirema Roysambu, leaving late into the night
• The woman’s body was found outside the White House apartment where they spent time, police probing whether she fell off the building’s tenth floor or was pushed

Nairobi – Detectives are probing the tragic fall of a woman who had booked herself into a short-term rental space in Thome, Kasarani.

She was in the company of a man who has since been identified as Lawrence Gitonga.

According to police, the duo had revelled at a pub in Mirema, Roysambu, on the evening of Friday, March 1.

They later left the entertainment joint late into the night, carrying with them some drinks, which they partook in before entering the rented space on the tenth floor of the apartment labelled White House.

The officers obtained CCTV footage from the building as the probe into the tragedy began.

In the room, blood stains were visible, this getting the detectives another hint of a possible commotion before the lady found herself on the ground.

Residents adjoining the room said they heard a commotion on Saturday dawn.

The body was ferried to a city morgue ahead of identification as the probe continued.

Meanwhile, Gitonga is aiding the police in investigations.

He was found to have sustained stab wounds.

The incident comes weeks after a young lady’s brutal murder in Roysambu.

Twenty-year-old Rita Waeni was killed by a man she had entered into a rental space with.

Her body was badly severed and stuffed in garbage bags outside the apartment they had spent time in.

Police probe revealed that Rita, then a JKUAT fourth-year student, met the killer on Instagram.

The man shunned phone calls and opted to communicate with her using the social media platform; perhaps to avoid being traced.

In his autopsy findings, government chief pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that Rita was strangled and suffocated to death before her body was dismembered.

The head base was bruised by a blunt object, according to Oduor, who added that some of the bones were fractured.

“The main findings were that the head had been chopped off from the neck at the level of C5. There was bruising on the scalp caused by a blunt object. We also saw some fractures in bones. I can comfortably conclude that the cause of death was strngulation after which she was decapitated and her body dumped,” said Oduor.

The goner was buried on February 5 in a private event, with the suspects behind her murder being brought to justice.
