SAN ANTONIO – A local jury found the man who was arrested after stabbing his mother to death in an Airbnb in May 2022 guilty.
Fabian Andres Aranda Rodriguez, 31, was arrested and charged with the murder of his mother, Martiza Rodriguez, 68.
San Antonio Police were called in the morning to an Airbnb on the Northeast side, where the homeowner said he found a deceased woman covered in blood in the room of the house.
According to a police report, the homeowner said he received a phone call around 3:30 a.m. from another person staying at the Airbnb claiming they heard screaming and arguing coming from somewhere in the home.
The same person texted the homeowner again just after 5 a.m. to say that a man had been rattling her doorknob. She called the police, who spoke with Fabian Rodriguez. He claimed he had gone to the wrong room by mistake.
Later that morning, the homeowner confronted Fabian Rodriguez and told him he needed to leave the home. He agreed and left according to police reports.
The homeowner discovered Maria Rodriguez shortly after, she had been stabbed several times.
Investigators found a bloody knife and bloody clothing wrapped in a bath towel in the backyard trash can.
Surveillance footage showed Fabian Rodriguez carrying luggage and clothes to the trashcan, which matched the bloody clothes found by investigators.
