REDDING, Calif. — Kylie Carreras of Redding pleaded guilty Wednesday to one felony embezzlement charge as part of a plea deal with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office. Carreras, who managed properties for over two dozen local Airbnb owners, was accused of embezzling more than $66,000.
Cindy Young and Todd James, realtors in Redding who owned several Airbnb properties managed by Carreras, expressed relief at the outcome but voiced concerns about the future.
“I know for me it has been, well and Todd as well… It’s been a long time coming,” Young said. “You know it was a lot of work proving, us having to prove that we were owed these monies.”
Young shared she and James both hired Carreras shared they’d hired her based on a referall from a fellow realtor. Advising others to be cautious when hiring property managers.
