It’s one of the most highly sought-after vacation rentals. Timeout says this “well-priced getaway for four pals” includes a queen bed and two singles, a full kitchen, rocking chairs, a fire pit, and a wood-fired hot tub. It’s so popular you need to book as soon as they open up dates for each season, or you’ll be left on the ground.
Located in the Umpqua National Forest, you’ll have 360-degree views the whole time you’re on vacation. One featured guest review on the We Are Travel Girls website says, “The hot tub at sunset and while stargazing a different day was a highlight.” Note: You will have to climb a ladder to get to the bedroom on the roof.

3. The Big Idaho Potato Hotel Farm Stay in Boise, Idaho

The final resting spot for this spud is a large plot of land with an outdoor dining area. If you need a little city action during your stay, the Potato is only 20 miles South of downtown Boise.

This house looks a little odd (and magnificent) on the outside, but Timeout says inside it’s a “handsome studio with a full kitchen and bathroom.” It’s off-the-grid, catches rainwater, and uses solar power. It’s 72 degrees inside year-round and sleeps up to four guests. It’s fairly cheap if you split it four ways. There’s even an attached greenhouse!
The Discoverer says this “Earthship” has all the modern comforts you’ll need to enjoy your stay. You’re close to all the Taos attractions and still be able to enjoy the night sky in the desert. Fun fact: The owner built the house while living in a tent.
The Earthship may look familiar because it’s been featured in several magazines like Forbes. Adventure in You loves it because it was “built by hand with lots of natural and repurposed materials.”
5. Domeland in Terlingua, Texas
You’ll experience the most incredible stargazing out of this solar-powered adobe dome. Not far from Big Bend National Park, the Airbnb is the perfect getaway for couples. Good Housekeeping says you will be roughing it a bit with the compost toilet, but if you must use electronics, there is Wi-Fi.
One traveler tells We Are Travel Girls, “The Dome itself has everything you would ever need! The touch of having Alexa hooked up to all lights and fans was a great move.” It’s just 25 minutes from Big Bend National Park and Terlingua Ghost Town. It sleeps three and has a kitchen, dining area, and a living room.

You will have to take a water taxi to get there.

7. The Houdini Estate in Los Angeles, California
Yes, this is the former home of Hungarian-American artist and illusionist Harry Houdini, and once you arrive here you won’t want to escape. The estate, which We Are Travel Girls says was built in the early 1900s, sleeps 10 people, and includes a deep water tank where Houdini practiced his escapes. The five-acre property includes many hiking trails and is simply immaculate.
Adventure In You says you will have the adventure of a lifetime by staying at this property, but it is expensive. The villa is full of “twists, turns, and plenty of space.” The pool was also a main practice area for the magician before he died. History buffs will love this location.
