POIPU, Hawaii (Island News) — A new hotel may be in the works on Kauai.
Island News has learned that a sale is pending on a 25-acre parcel of land in Poipu on the Garden Isle’s South Shore that is entitled for hotel or resort residential development.
Hotel investment firm Powell & Aucello says while the sale of existing hotels is slow, there is more activity in the hotel development site market.
Overall, the state’s hotel industry remains down for the year. The revenue per available room or RevPar was down 5 percent year-to-date, according to Hawaii Tourism Authority figures.
