Macau’s swanky hotels appear to be losing their relevance in reputation building as the city continues its economic transition away from gambling, a recent study from the Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University has found.
Based on social media discourse, the study, conducted by Zhang Gaojun, Shi Biyang, Li Mengying, and Zhang Zheng, used the year 2019 as a reference point to analyse the changes in image evolution between 2015 and 2019, as well as from 2023 to the present.
Macau, as they wrote, has been gaining recognition as a city of art, fashion, leisure, international cuisine, hotels, heritage, gaming, entertainment, conventions, and exhibitions.
