A woman has been ordered to vacate her rental property after she leased out a room on Booking.com and kept up to five cats, both without permission.
The ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) found she’d breached the Residential Tenancies Act and terminated her tenancy, forcing her to vacate the property.
According to the tribunal’s published reasons, the tenant breached the Standard Residential Tenancy Terms by subleasing the apartment, or parts of it, on Booking.com without permission.
The ACAT also found the tenant to have housed “possibly four or five” cats as early as June 2023 without seeking permission…
