Millennials across the globe are becoming the first generation to embrace LGBTQ+ family travel. However, according to Booking.com’s latest Travel Proud research, such travel is largely influenced and determined by their queer identity. Issues such as destination recognition and acceptance of LGBTQ+ families, among others, come into play. This survey shows that 60% of LGBTQ+ parents believe their identity significantly influences their vacation planning and destination choices. Thus, an overwhelming 78% of them investigate the LGBTQ+ friendliness of a destination before selecting it. However, despite progressive attitudes in many countries, numerous challenges and constraints remain for LGBTQ+ family travel with 87% of respondents feeling these restraints.
