In 2023, Latin American online travel agency Despegar witnessed a significant increase in various aspects of its business, including its highest-ever revenue of approximately $166 million in Q2. It was the company’s first positive quarter since 2019. The company also further expanded its “high margin” packages industry, a new loyalty program attracted millions, a generative AI trip planner was introduced, and its B2B business saw continuous development. The company’s aim for 2024 is to sustain and capitalize on this successful run. Despegar CEO, Damian Scokin, in a conversation with PhocusWire, shared that their priority for 2024 is to seize the attractive market opportunity in front of them as Latin America continues to recover from the pandemic.
