Spiritual travel in India is witnessing a lot of growth, with pilgrimage destinations now accounting for over 10% of MakeMyTrip’s total room night bookings in Q3 FY25. Searches for religious destinations on the platform have surged by 46% in 2024 as compared to 2022, highlighting a growing preference among travellers for such journeys. According to MakeMyTrip, these pilgrimages often involve families with a higher percentage of elderly members, making it essential to find the perfect stay with facilities tailored to their needs.
MakeMyTrip has also introduced ‘Loved by Devotees’, a curated collection of 450+ hotels and homestays across 26 leading spiritual destinations. This initiative aims to take the guesswork out of planning spiritual journeys and ensure that travellers find stays that meet their specific needs.
