‘Supplier direct doesn’t need to be viewed necessarily as direct competition; MakeMyTrip’s (MMT) strategy remains focused on capitalising on the larger pie of the market available for intermediaries’, MakeMyTrip Co-Founder and Group CEO Rajesh Magow said during the company’s Q3FY25 earnings call.
Magow’s response came to a query posed by a participant about why airline company Indigo’s increased competitiveness bore no impact on MMT’s business specifically its market share growth.
‘Supplier Direct’, for context, refers to a situation where a traveller books a travel product or service directly from the provider – like a hotel or an airline (in this case, Indigo) – bypassing intermediaries like online travel agencies such as MakeMyTrip.
