Validus, a business account and financing platform for SMEs in Southeast Asia, has hired Anshul Johri as Group Chief Technology Officer beginning on April 5, 2023. Johri has over 17 years of experience in technology, having worked for startups and large companies in industries such as e-commerce, travel, and fintech across India and Southeast Asia. He most recently served as Head of Engineering at Indonesian unicorn Traveloka, where he scaled financial services products such as payment platforms, digital wallets, buy now pay later (BNPL), insurance and wealth management. At Validus, Johri will lead the technology strategy across the region to drive the company’s next phase of growth and deliver best-in-class digital financial services for small businesses. Validus has disbursed over USD 2.6 billion in loans to small businesses in Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand since its establishment in 2015. The platform is backed by prominent VCs including Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India, Vertex Growth, FMO, AddVentures by SCG, K3 Ventures, Openspace Ventures, and VinaCapital Ventures. Validus recently secured its first tranche of funds in a Series C1 round with investment from NongHyup Financial Group, Norinchukin Bank, Aizawa Asset Management, and Lotte F&L Singapore.
