Sarcastic motorists have set up a TripAdvisor page for a huge puddle which workers are struggling to clear on a major road. The ‘Newmarket puddle’ has been caused by flooding on the A14.
The flooding has seen lane closures over the past few weeks with around five Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of water being pumped away amounting to more than 12 million litres. Lanes two and three eventually reopened on Thursday with a 40mph speed limit in place.
A National Highways spokesperson apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure and said the organisation aims to fully reopen the road as soon as possible.
The Newmarket Puddle page has made its way to number 10 of Newmarket’s top attractions. It has more than 30 ratings, with 15 of those rating it as ‘excellent’, CambridgeshireLive reports.
One tongue-in-cheek review described the attraction as the ‘A14 sea’. The title of their review said: “Wish I had put my wetsuit on.”
