On April 18, 2025, an incident occurred at Melbourne Orlando International Airport in the US state of Florida involving a Boeing 787-9 operated by the British airline Tui Airways. The flight, originally scheduled to Birmingham in the UK, had to be aborted shortly before takeoff after a technical alarm was triggered in the cockpit. While attempting to steer the aircraft off the runway via a taxiway, the right main landing gear became trapped in the soft grass next to the taxiway. The wide-body aircraft became stuck there and was only able to continue its journey two days later. The approximately 350 passengers were evacuated unharmed and accommodated in hotels.
