TUI Flight Attendant Seriously Injured At Airport

A TUI Airways flight attendant was rushed to the hospital following a shocking fall at East Midlands Airport, stirring concerns over safety protocols at airports. The incident unfolded as the aircraft was preparing for departure on December 16, around 4:30 PM, when the cabin crew member inadvertently stepped out of the plane, not realizing the stairs were not placed at the door.

Witnesses reported hearing the muffled thud as the woman fell to the tarmac when she opened the aircraft door, expecting to step onto the boarding stairs which had already been removed. One witness, speaking to The Nottingham Post, recalled, “She opened the door, took a step out and the stairs… were not there for whatever reason. She fell to the tarmac and I heard she was seriously injured.” This unexpected situation highlights the chaotic nature occasionally faced during pre-flight operations, where overlapping duties can lead to hazardous outcomes.
